My youngest kiddo and I completely love yuzu.  It is sort of like a cross between lemon and grapefruit in taste.  There’s a softly bitter fragrant high quality to it (like grapefruit), with floral notes like orange blossom.  We particularly love candied yuzu peel, having first tried it from a Japanese subscription field.  Yuzu is admittedly tough to get within the states, nearly inconceivable contemporary, as a result of it can’t be imported and is barely seasonally discovered from California.  However the CA firm does promote bottled juice, syrup and peel, and yow will discover different yuzu syrups and purees on-line as effectively.  Simply by itself, yuzu does not pack fairly the pucker of lemon or lime and since that is very very like a key lime pie, I did add just a little lemon juice for some added tartness to fulfill that expectation.  I do want the flavour of the wealthy biscuits for the crust, however graham crackers work simply as effectively!  I attempted a pair totally different mixtures for the filling and that is what turned out our favourite.  If there’s a little leftover filling that will not match within the pie, simply prepare dinner it on low in a small pot till it bubbles and thickens like lemon curd, then chill.  Yummy and creamy.

Yuzu Pie

Crust:
1½ cups wealthy biscuit or graham cracker crumbs
4 tbsp salted butter, melted
¼ cup brown sugar (2-3 tbsp for graham crumbs)

Filling:
cup yuzu Juice, syrup, or puree (or a mix)
⅓ cup lemon juice (add a few of the zest if utilizing contemporary lemon!)
24 oz sweetened condensed milk (slightly below two cans)
4 massive egg yolks

Whipped Cream:
¾ cup heavy cream
3 tbsp powdered sugar 

Elective lemon zest or candied lemon/yuzu peel for garnish

For the crust:

Mix melted butter, crumbs and sugar till totally moistened. Press the crumbs into the underside and across the sides of a 9″ pie tin.

Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350º F and take away from oven.

For the filling:

Whisk the sweetened condensed milk, juices, and egg yolks collectively
(or use a blender or electrical mixer). If utilizing contemporary lemon juice, add a few of the zest from the lemon. Pour into heat
crust.  (You might have a number of tablespoons additional.)

Bake the pie for 18–20 minutes or till just a bit jiggly within the
