This week Connecticut-based Mecha Noodle Bar debuted its first Ohio location within the Brief North at 965 N. Excessive St., within the former White Fort house, they usually kindly invited us to strive it out!

The house has been fantastically redone to include a protracted bar and a cushty, brightly lit eating room with pure wooden accents. All through the house, picket architectural particulars cling down from the ceiling.

Mecha’s menu covers a spread of bao buns, small plates, sushi, pho, and ramen.

It’s all supplemented by bubble tea, cocktails, wine, sake, and beer.

We tried a trio of drinks: the limeade, Thai iced tea, and Vietnamese iced espresso. All scrumptious.

Our servers had been very enthusiastic, and heartily advisable a couple of munchies to strive. All of them praised the dumplings, particularly these roasted mushroom dumplings with butter miso and arugula. They weren’t mistaken.

The menu leads off with a quartet of bao buns. It was a bit of complicated what number of got here in an order, however we managed to order a trio of buns in two completely different flavors.

The pork stomach got here with big slices of the stomach, virtually too massive to comfortably eat in a bao bun. Our server mentioned these had been small, two-bite buns, however clearly they’re a lot bigger.

Similar with the Korean fried rooster buns; the skinny slices of fried rooster are generously portioned. You may simply make a complete meal out of those.

Our server advisable the kimchi fried rice as nicely. Once more, the parts had been overly beneficiant. The rice may be very properly seasoned, and similar to the bao buns, it may go as a full meal.

Then on to the primary occasion: noodle bowls!

First up, a bowl of pho. The Pho Sizzle options grilled flank steak. We actually loved it; the pho broth is richly seasoned.

Similar with the tonkotsu ramen. It’s loaded with taste, particularly from the tender slices of pork stomach.

As a bonus, our server allow us to strive the Pho Bo, a flavor-packed pho with uncommon steak and bone marrow you scoop into the broth.

We loved Mecha. The food arrived in enormous parts, with numerous nice flavors, and repair was very attentive. I hope it turns into a fixture of the Brief North.
